Discover Montalcino and the Val d’Orcia… on foot! Our new walking route will take you to explore an unseen side of our territory!
The Col d’Orcia Walk & Nordic Walking is the brand-new walk of Brunello Crossing 2026! This brand-new 17.5 km non-competitive route, suitable for walkers, runners and power walkers, will take you to discover a completely unseen side of our territory. The route starts in Sant’Angelo Scalo (at Col d’Orcia winery) and finishes in the heart of Montalcino.
You will follow Montalcino’s most iconic trails, among the gentle hills of the Val d’Orcia, the Brunello di Montalcino vineyards, and the local woodlands.
Three intermediate stops at as many food-and-wine points, managed by the organization in collaboration with local businesses, will offer tastings of local products, paired with wine and/or beer. An absolute novelty this year will be the first refreshment stop, organized by Col d’Orcia, where you will be able to taste in particular their beers (included in the race pack) and olive oil.
Given the length of the route, all walkers will have the option at around the 9th kilometer to end their walk and return to Montalcino by a dedicated shuttle service, included in the race pack.
Of course, we recommend you keep going: the scenery changes, and you will enter the town through Porta Castellana, one of the six old medieval gates leading into the city, before finishing in Piazza del Popolo, the same central square where the athletes from the three competitive races will arrive.
A shuttle will be available from 7:30 am to 9:00 am to reach Sant’Angelo Scalo from Montalcino. The same shuttle service will resume from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm to take back to Sant’Angelo those who choose to park there.
In Montalcino, in the expo area, it will be possible to join the Athletes’ buffet starting from 12:00 pm, by purchasing the voucher (€25.00) on site; free for children under 14.

- The route is more technical than in 2025. Therefore, trail running or hiking shoes are mandatory.

Attention: Given the length of the route, for those who are unable to complete the full course, there will be the option (at no additional cost) to use a shuttle to Montalcino after a detour around the 9th km.
This is the shortened route for those who will end their experience earlier.
Rules
The SSD MONTALCINO TRAIL, with the approval of UISP, is organizing a non-competitive walk on the trails of the Municipality of Montalcino, “Col d’Orcia Walk & Nordic Walking BRUNELLO CROSSING,” on Sunday, February 08, 2026, covering a distance of 17,5 km.
PARTICIPATION
The walk is open to all individuals, including children (free for those up to 14 years old). However, it is mandatory to register them on the morning of the event to collect the bib.
Participation with dogs is allowed, provided that throughout the competition, the dog is kept on a leash (non-extendable), and their departure is at the back of the grid. In any case, the owner is responsible for the conduct of the dog, which must not harm other people or things.
Each participant is free to cover the route at a pace they deem appropriate based on their physical fitness.
REGISTRATION
Registrations will close upon reaching 200 participants for each of the 3 departures (in each of our editions, this has happened well in advance of the event date). The registration fee includes the race pack and refreshments.

THE RACE PACKAGE WILL CONTAIN:

A 50% discount voucher to be used on the Cisalfa website, valid on all products
Race cancellation due to atmospheric reasons or force majeure including pandemics.
In case of complete cancellation of the event, two options are possible: transfer of the registration to the following year or a 50% refund of the registration fee.
FAILURE TO PARTICIPATE AND REFUND OF PARTICIPATION FEES
In case of failure to participate in the race, the registration fees are not refundable under any circumstances.
However, the athlete unable to participate in the race will be offered two alternatives:
- transfer the registration to Brunello Crossing 2026 upon payment of a supplement of €. 15.00 for secretarial rights and upon written notification by 31 January 2025. It is possible to benefit from the transfer concession to the following year’s edition only once.
- transfer the registration to another person upon payment of a supplement of €. 15.00 for secretarial rights and upon notification by 31 January 2025 and written declaration by the renouncer.
The replacement person registered will have to provide all personal information as if it were a new registration. It is possible to benefit from the transfer facilitation to another athlete only in the 2026 edition and in any case only once. The transfer of registration to another person cannot be cumulated with any other tariff concessions.
DECLARATION OF RESPONSIBILITY’
“I declare that I know and respect the event regulations published on the website; www.brunellocrossing.it I know that participating in sporting events in general is potentially a risky activity. I also declare that I am registering voluntarily and I assume all risks deriving from my participation in the event: falls, contact with vehicles, with other participants, spectators or otherwise, weather conditions, including scorching heat, extreme cold and/or humid, traffic and road conditions, every type of well-known risk is assessed by me. Being aware of the above, considering the acceptance of my registration, I, on my behalf and in the interest of no one else, relieve and release the organizing committee, the SSD MONTALCINO TRAIL, the Municipal Administration of Montalcino, the Administration provincial administration of Siena, the Regional Administration of Tuscany, all Sponsors of the event, the UISP, their respective representatives, successors, officers, directors, members, agents and employees of the above-mentioned companies, of all present and future complaints, or liabilities of any kind, known or unknown, arising from my participation in the event.Once registration has been accepted, the participation fee is not refundable even in the event of cancellation, the possibility of postponing to the following year or passing it to another athlete only once remains valid. I grant my permission to all entities listed above to use photographs, videos, images within websites and anything relating to my participation in the event for any legitimate use without remuneration.”
COPYRIGHT
By registering, you expressly authorize the organizers to use free of charge the images portraying you, still and/or moving, taken during your participation in BRUNELLO CROSSING. This authorization for the use of one’s image must be considered granted for an indefinite period and without territorial limits, for use in publications, photographic competitions, various films, including, by way of example and without limitation, promotional and/or advertising materials and made on all media. The organizers may transfer the rights of use provided for in this agreement to third parties, their institutional and commercial partners.
PRIVACY
The data provided will be processed in compliance with the rules established by Legislative Decree 30.6.2003 n.196.

VARIATIONS

reserves the right to modify this regulation at any time for reasons it deems appropriate for better organization of the event and/or for reasons of force majeure.
Any changes to times, services and places will be communicated to participants in the appropriate ways and will in any case be highlighted on the website www.brunellocrossing.it
