Choose between a T-shirt or trees: the 7th Brunello Crossing is completely green.

The Brunello Crossing 2024 enhances its commitment to the environment: every
participant in the event will have the option to choose between receiving a T-shirt or
donating the equivalent amount of money for the implementation of a vegetal enhancement project.

On Sunday, February 11th, three competitive distances will start: the 45 km Banfi Trophy,
the 24 km Val di Suga Trophy, and the 14 km Barbi Trophy.
Also scheduled is the Walk Nordic & Walking Trophy, a 13 km walk.

MONTALCINO – Saying “green” is easy. Giving it meaning is more challenging. This is something that the Brunello Crossing 2024 has done exceptionally well, the trail running event organized by the SSD Montalcino Trail with the support of the Municipal Administration and the Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino, which will take place on Sunday, February 11th, featuring the traditional distances of 45 km, 24 km, and 14 km, in addition to the 13 km walk. THE GREEN INITIATIVE: T-SHIRT OR TREES? – Every participant in the Brunello Crossing 2024, upon collecting their race pack, can choose whether to receive their t-shirt or, through the organizing team, donate the equivalent amount to the Municipality of Montalcino for the implementation of a vegetal and ornamental enhancement project on Viale Strozzi. “In a world where we witness an ever-growing and increasingly worrying waste of raw materials, our choice is an ethical one aimed at reducing waste and simultaneously using everyone’s efforts for a project useful to the community. Furthermore, with this initiative, we increasingly embrace the philosophy of trail running, which is based on environmental respect and the enhancement of the territory,” said the organizers. “Trail runners who are already registered received a newsletter in recent days, in which we asked for their preference – t-shirt or donation – in order to print fewer t-shirts if possible,” they specified. There will be no additional expense for those who choose not to collect the t-shirt and donate the equivalent amount of money. The donated fee will be deducted from the registration fee. Alongside the Brunello Crossing this year will be Craft, a leading brand in sportswear. “We are very attached to this event and could only confirm our partnership,” said the company’s representatives. “With the Brunello Crossing, we share both the ethical and the technical-sporting approach. Moreover, the Craft team will be present at the competition with a special event, which we will reveal shortly.DISTANCES – For this 7th Brunello Crossing, the traditional three competitive distances and the walk are confirmed, a “full house” that allows athletes of all levels and walkers to practice their passion in an extraordinary context: 45km Banfi Trophy (elevation gain: 1820 m+), 24km Val di Suga Trophy (elevation gain 1100 m+), and 14km Barbi Trophy (elevation gain 650 m+), as well as the Walk Nordic & Walking Trophy, a 13 km walk. ROUTES – Whatever the distance, the magic remains unchanged. Trail runners, marathoners, and enthusiasts of running and walking will be able to enjoy the beauties of a territory that is unparalleled by nature: on the different routes, they will immerse themselves in woods, vineyards, medieval villages, and farms among the Tuscan hills along the Val d’Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The starting and finishing points, from the central and historic Piazza del Popolo in Montalcino (SI), are also picturesque and unique. The Walk Nordic & Walking Trophy, which will start from Torrenieri di Montalcino, will accompany those who prefer to reduce their speed to further appreciate the surrounding landscape along the Val d’Orcia. REGISTRATIONS – It is possible to register for all four events online at this link. The advice, for those who have not already done so, is not to postpone further. Indeed, there is a maximum number of bibs (the organization reserves the right to suspend registrations at 400 for each distance in order to guarantee the best possible service for athletes). FACILITIES AND AWARDS FOR GROUPS – Groups of a minimum of 6 people can register following a simple procedure and save money. It will be sufficient to include in a single file the data of each athlete and then make a cumulative bank transfer, thus avoiding portal commissions. And for registrations of over 10 people, the eleventh bib will be free. Moreover, on the day of the race, the largest group will be awarded. Interested athletes can receive all the information by writing to: info@brunellocrossing.it. DECANTER – Also this year, the organizers will thank all the athletes who participated in the six previous editions of the Brunello Crossing by giving them a Vinocchio Decanter, the elegant container that, thanks to its peculiar shape reminiscent of a bottle, allows young wines to oxygenate and enhance their aromatic bouquet and aged ones to separate sediments. MONTALCINO AND SURROUNDINGS – Montalcino is situated on a hill about 40 km south of Siena and is bordered by the valleys of Asso, Ombrone, and Orcia, the latter celebrated by the painters of the Sienese School of the Renaissance and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its breathtaking landscapes, made up of white roads, plains, hills, and mountains, have made this territory a true paradise for nature sports enthusiasts, as demonstrated by the increasingly frequent international events such as the “Eroica” and “Eroica Montalcino“. In addition to the geomorphological conformation, Montalcino offers renowned food and wine traditions worldwide, making the Brunello Crossing an opportunity to combine a weekend of sports with a dive into local culture.
